Overview
Strugglin' is a collaboration between 2Pac and Live Squad, released on Strictly 4 My N.I.G.G.A.Z. in 1993. Produced by Live Squad, the track features both Stretch and Majesty alongside 2Pac and is one of the defining collaborations from the group's creative partnership during the early 1990s.
Built around a dark, hard-hitting East Coast production, the song explores themes of poverty, crime and survival, with each artist delivering verses reflecting the realities of life in their respective communities. The chemistry between 2Pac, Stretch and Majesty is evident throughout, making the recording one of the strongest examples of their work together.
Unlike many later collaborations that remained unreleased, Strugglin' received an official commercial release and introduced Live Squad to a much wider audience through one of 2Pac's most acclaimed early albums.
Recording History
Strugglin' was recorded during the Strictly 4 My N.I.G.G.A.Z. sessions in 1992. By this time Stretch and Majesty had become regular collaborators with 2Pac, contributing production, songwriting and guest performances to several recordings including 5 Deadly Venoms, Holler If Ya Hear Me (Original Version) and later tracks such as Pain and Under Pressure.
Produced entirely by Live Squad, the track highlights the group's distinctive production style, combining heavy drums with atmospheric samples and aggressive lyricism. Stretch opens the song before handing over to 2Pac, while Majesty delivers the closing verse, giving all three artists an equal presence on the recording.
Today, Strugglin' is widely regarded as one of the finest official collaborations between 2Pac and Live Squad, representing the partnership at its creative peak before later recording sessions expanded into the unreleased material that has become highly sought after by collectors.
