Overview
Pay Me is an unreleased collaboration between Live Squad and Mopreme, recorded during August 1993. The song was intended for Live Squad's planned second album, Diary Of A Poor Man, where it appeared as the second track in the proposed running order.
The recording dates from a particularly productive period for Stretch and Majesty, who were simultaneously working with 2Pac and members of the future Thug Life group. Mopreme's appearance reflects the close relationship between Live Squad and 2Pac's circle during the summer of 1993, when the artists were frequently recording together in New York and California.
Although Pay Me was never officially released, it remains one of the most intriguing unreleased recordings from the Diary Of A Poor Man sessions. Unlike several other songs from the project, the recording has never surfaced publicly, and little is known about its final arrangement or lyrical content.
Recording History
Pay Me was recorded in August 1993 at Sanbox Studios, L.A. during the same recording period as Understand Me. At the time, Stretch and Majesty were dividing their time between Live Squad projects and collaborations with 2Pac, while Mopreme was also working closely with both artists on multiple recordings.
Collector documentation places Pay Me on the original Diary Of A Poor Man track listing, although the song was never commercially released after the project was shelved. A contemporary recording timeline also references an unheard Live Squad recording titled Pay Me featuring Mopreme, further supporting its existence during this period.
No verified studio logs, production notes or circulating recordings have surfaced, making Pay Me one of the least documented songs in the Live Squad catalogue.
