Overview

Moving Up is a previously unreleased Live Squad recording that received its first official release on the 2001 reconstruction of Game Of Survival issued by Grand Imperial Records. Although first released in 2001, the recording is believed to originate from Live Squad's original Tommy Boy recording sessions during the early 1990s.

The song reflects the determination and ambition that characterised much of Live Squad's early material. Stretch and Majesty deliver confident performances over a classic Live Squad production, continuing the group's blend of street realism and lyrical storytelling.

Its eventual release helped preserve another recording from Live Squad's earliest creative period, providing listeners with a broader picture of the material originally recorded before the cancellation of the Game Of Survival album.

Recording History

Although no official recording date has been published, collector research suggests that Moving Up originated during Live Squad's Tommy Boy years, alongside much of the material recorded for the cancelled Game Of Survival album.

Following the cancellation of the original project, the recording remained unreleased throughout the 1990s. After Stretch's death, Majesty revisited the archived material and included Moving Up on the reconstructed Game Of Survival album released by Grand Imperial Records in 2001.

The recording remains another valuable example of Live Squad's original sound, capturing Stretch and Majesty during the formative years of the group before their later collaborations with 2Pac and Thug Life.
