Overview
Diary Of A Poor Man is an unreleased recording by Live Squad and is believed to have served as the title track for the group's planned second studio album. Recorded during 1994, the song formed part of the body of work created following the release of Game Of Survival and represented the next stage in Live Squad's development as artists and producers.
The album was intended to follow the group's Tommy Boy releases and continued their gritty portrayal of life in South Jamaica, Queens. Although numerous songs from the project have since surfaced among collectors, the album itself was never completed for commercial release.
For the Live Squad archive, Diary Of A Poor Man represents one of the most historically significant unreleased recordings in the group's catalogue, giving its name to an album that has become legendary among collectors of Live Squad material.
Recording History
The exact recording date has never been officially confirmed, although the song is generally believed to have been recorded during the sessions for Live Squad's second album in 1994. Surviving track listings show Diary Of A Poor Man as the album's title track before the project was later referred to by collectors as Ghetto Blues.
Unlike several other songs from the project, the recording has not surfaced publicly in verified form and very little information regarding its production or final arrangement has been confirmed.
The cancellation of the album meant the track never received an official release and its complete recording history remains largely undocumented.
