Overview

Bury Me a G (Original Version) is the earliest known recording of the song later released by Thug Life on Thug Life: Volume 1. Recorded during the summer of 1993, this unreleased version features 2Pac performing solo verses over a Stretch-produced instrumental, with Natasha Walker providing the sung chorus.

Unlike the officially released group version, the original recording focuses entirely on 2Pac's perspective and contains additional verses that were never used on the commercial release. It offers an early glimpse of the direction 2Pac intended before expanding the song into a full Thug Life collaboration.

Although the original recording has circulated among collectors for many years, it has never received an official commercial release.

Recording History

Research places the original recording during June or July 1993. The song was produced by 2Pac and Stretch, with Natasha Walker recording the chorus during the same period.

The original version features four solo verses by 2Pac, two of which were later omitted when the song was reworked for Thug Life. Rather than replacing the original recording, 2Pac expanded the song by inviting Mopreme, Big Syke, Macadoshis and Rated R to contribute new verses, creating the group version released on Thug Life: Volume 1.

Following the original sessions, the solo recording remained in circulation among 2Pac's unreleased material and was reportedly considered for the planned R U Still Down project before ultimately remaining unreleased. The official Thug Life version remains the only commercially released incarnation of the song.
