Overview
Big Time (Original Version) is one of the earliest known collaborations between 2Pac and Live Squad. Recorded around 1992, the song features Stretch and Majesty alongside Tupac and reflects the dark, sample-driven production style that characterised Live Squad's early work.
Unlike the later commercial remake, the original recording contains only 2Pac, Stretch and Majesty. The song remained unreleased during Tupac's lifetime but circulated privately among collectors, becoming one of the most sought-after recordings from the early partnership between Tupac and Live Squad.
The original version is widely regarded as superior to the later remake, preserving the chemistry between the three artists and showcasing Live Squad's production before the recording was revisited almost a decade later.
Recording History
Although the exact recording date has never been officially confirmed, collector research generally places the session around 1992, making it one of the earliest surviving collaborations between Tupac and Live Squad. The recording predates the Thug Life era and captures the artists while they were still developing their respective careers.
The song remained unreleased throughout the 1990s. In 2001, Grand Imperial Records revisited the recording for E-Moneybags' Regulate / Big Time single. The new version introduced an additional E-Moneybags verse together with different production, transforming the original Live Squad recording into a substantially different release.
For the Live Squad archive, the original version represents the definitive recording, preserving the original performances by 2Pac, Stretch and Majesty before any posthumous alterations were made.
