Overview
What You Need is a collaboration between E-Moneybags and Majesty, released on E-Moneybags' debut album In E Money Bags We Trust in 1999. Although the track has occasionally been associated with Live Squad due to Majesty's involvement, the commercially released version does not feature an identifiable verse from Stretch and is best regarded as a post-Live Squad recording.
The recording was released during the early years of Majesty's collaboration with E-Moneybags, a partnership that would later continue through Grand Imperial Records. While the song bears several similarities to earlier Live Squad material, there is currently no evidence that it originated as an unreleased Live Squad recording.
One notable connection to Live Squad is the opening skit, which reuses the same gangster-themed dialogue heard at the beginning of the unreleased track Shit List. The dialogue appears to be identical, although it has never been officially confirmed whether the audio was lifted directly from the earlier recording or sourced from an original session master.
Recording History
Very little documentation has survived regarding the production of What You Need. The track was commercially released in 1999 on In E Money Bags We Trust and features vocal performances by Majesty and E-Moneybags.
Earlier research suggested that the recording may have incorporated previously unreleased Live Squad material. However, analysis of the commercially released version has found no identifiable Stretch verse. While uncredited backing vocals or ad-libs cannot be completely ruled out, no confirmed performance by Stretch has been identified.
The song's introduction reuses the same spoken skit featured on Live Squad's unreleased recording Shit List. This suggests that Majesty retained access to material from the earlier recording sessions, although the exact relationship between the two tracks remains unknown.
Until additional studio documentation becomes available, What You Need is best regarded as a collaboration between Majesty and E-Moneybags rather than an unreleased Live Squad recording.
