Overview
Holler If Ya' Hear Me was released as the opening track and lead single from 2Pac's second studio album, Strictly 4 My N.I.G.G.A.Z.... Built around themes of police brutality, racial inequality and life on the streets, the song became one of Tupac's signature early recordings and helped establish him as one of hip hop's most important political voices.
The recording has a particularly close connection to Live Squad. Official album credits list Stretch as producer, Live Squad as guest vocalists and Live Squad as co-lyricists alongside Tupac. The recording is also credited as being based on the earlier unreleased Live Squad version, making it one of the most significant collaborations between Tupac and the group.
In 2023, Interscope expanded the album with six bonus tracks, including Holler If Ya' Hear Me (New York Stretch Mix). Produced and remixed by Stretch, the official remix provides a new interpretation of the track and further highlights Live Squad's creative contribution to one of Tupac's best known songs.
