Big Time

Overview

Big Time was officially released in 2001 on the Regulate / Big Time 12-inch single issued by Grand Imperial Records. The recording is a remake of the earlier unreleased collaboration between 2Pac and Live Squad, with a newly recorded verse by E-Moneybags added to the original performances by 2Pac, Stretch and Majesty.

Rather than releasing the original studio recording, Grand Imperial chose to reconstruct the song with new production while preserving the original Live Squad and 2Pac vocals. The result bridges two generations of Grand Imperial artists, combining an early 1990s recording with E-Moneybags' final body of work.

The single was released shortly after the death of E-Moneybags in July 2001, making it one of the final releases associated with both him and the Grand Imperial label. For the Live Squad archive, the original unreleased recording is documented separately as Big Time (Original Version).

Recording History

The foundation of the song originates from an unreleased recording made by 2Pac, Stretch and Majesty during the early 1990s. Around 2001 the recording was revisited by Grand Imperial Records, where a newly recorded verse by E-Moneybags was incorporated alongside a new instrumental.

Unlike many posthumous Tupac releases produced by Amaru Entertainment, this version was assembled by Grand Imperial Records, the label co-founded by Majesty. The remix preserves the chemistry between the original performers while introducing E-Moneybags as an additional collaborator.

Although the arrangement differs significantly from the original version, the release remains one of the few official commercial releases to feature previously unreleased vocals by Stretch and Majesty alongside 2Pac.
