Overview
2Pacalypse Now is the debut studio album by 2Pac, released by Interscope Records on 12 November 1991. Although initially controversial because of its politically charged subject matter, the album established Tupac Shakur as one of hip-hop's most distinctive new voices and laid the foundation for one of the most influential careers in rap history.
For the Live Squad archive, the album represents the first official commercial collaboration between 2Pac and members of Live Squad. Stretch performs on Crooked Ass Nigga and Tha' Lunatic, while the latter also introduced Live Squad production to Tupac's catalogue. These recordings marked the beginning of a creative partnership that continued through numerous recordings between 1992 and 1995.
Because of its historical importance to both artists, 2Pacalypse Now remains one of the most significant releases documented within the Live Squad archive.
