Overview
How We Roll is a previously unreleased Live Squad recording that was officially issued as a bonus vintage track on the 2001 release of Game Of Survival. Although first released in 2001, the recording is believed to originate from Live Squad's original Tommy Boy recording sessions during the early 1990s.
The song captures Stretch and Majesty during the formative years of Live Squad, before the group's later collaborations with 2Pac. Musically it retains the raw production style and uncompromising lyricism that defined the group's earliest work.
Its inclusion on the reconstructed Game Of Survival album provided fans with another previously unheard recording from the Tommy Boy archives, adding further insight into the depth of material Live Squad recorded during their first major label period.
Recording History
Although no official recording date has been published, collector research suggests that How We Roll originated during Live Squad's Tommy Boy era, alongside the material recorded for the cancelled Game Of Survival album.
The recording remained in the vault throughout the 1990s. When Grand Imperial Records reconstructed Game Of Survival in 2001, the song was included as a vintage bonus recording, giving it its first official release.
Like several other bonus tracks from the project, How We Roll offers a glimpse into Live Squad's early catalogue beyond the original album sequence, preserving another piece of the group's recording history.
