Overview
Hellrazor was released on 2Pac's posthumous album R U Still Down? (Remember Me) in November 1997. Although presented as a new recording, the song originated from an earlier unreleased track called Dear Lord.
The original recording featured the recurring phrase "Dear Lord" throughout each verse, a characteristic that remained in the final version despite the song being retitled Hellrazor. For the commercial release, the original recording was remixed by Quincy Jones III, with additional production alongside the original Live Squad production, creating the version released on the album.
The recording features guest vocals from Stretch and Val Young, while Stretch also receives songwriting and production credits through Live Squad. As a result, Hellrazor represents one of Stretch's most significant posthumously released collaborations with Tupac and provides an important link between the unreleased studio recordings of the early 1990s and the material later assembled for R U Still Down? (Remember Me).
